Playing poker online was one of the things I always wanted to try but never really took the time to really get into. Multiple jobs, family, friends always seemed to take me away from something I wanted to get my hands into… until a few days ago. That’s the good news.
The bad news is that I had to learn that greed and/or curiosity tend to make poker players do things do things that they end up regretting later on, as they either end up bankrupt or with their bankroll seriously diminished, which reduces their paying options.
That’s why, after a few bad hands I discovered that a conservative bankroll management approach is a very valuable asset in every player “toolbox”. This will ensure we always have enough funds to ensure a bad streak of luck doesn’t leave without enough credit, so we can recover and avoid (virtual or not) bankruptcy.
One of the things I’ve learned, both is that in poker as well as in life, you can’t always win. No matter how good your strategy is, and no matter how good your hand is, someone is going to outplay you, sometimes more than once. This is especially true when you are a newbie like me. And that’s when managing your bankroll wisely is a real plus, as it helps you recover from losses and, when you have a good hand, risk a bit more.
